I travelled offshore by helicopter for the last 8 years. I have had portable external hard drives get dropped by the people inspecting out luggage on several occasions. Twice I arrived offshore for a long rotation with a hard drive full of games and movies that was now broken.Keep your old mechanical hard drive at home by your main PC or by the television. I bought 2 different SSD external drives a little 256gig drive and this 1TB drive... its fast, durable and gets bumped around a lot. I just slip it in the side pocket of my laptop case and go.Because it has no moving parts unless you smash it open or somehow fry the electronics your data should stay safe. I have about 100 movies and 20 games from my steam library on this drive and everything runs perfectly!I was skeptical at first with how poor some of the other reviews were. some claimed it to be as slow as any other HDD and as a gamer looking for fast loading screens I wasn't too sure. However I can assure you after playing both CS:GO and BF2042 all day on this device I saw no real difference between those games loading from my built in SSD and this SSD.Do note I am running it with the USB C to USB C on a Gen 2 USB C 3.2 port. I'm not sure if that has an advantage over a Gen 2 USB A 3.2 port, I haven't tried it.As of today 8/29/22 the SSD works great for gaming. If I run into any issues in the future I'll be sure to update my review and if you never see this review change its still in great working condition.I got this SSD for my gaming laptop to Install my steam origin and Gamepass games on as my laptop came with low storage and it works great it runs all of my steam origin and Gamepass games great with fast load times and no lag If you need extra storage space for gaming but don’t want to break the bank get this SSD It’s perfect for gaming also it’s very small and compact so it will fit in tight spaces overall I’m more than pleased with this little SSDHighly recommendedDecent drive for the money. Quality is ok. Could've been padded around the edges. Read and write speeds are actually pretty good.I dislike nothing about this product and I think it's a great value, very durable and has the right amount of storage capacity for what I purchased it for. This enclosure worked to its spec. I got a bit less than 1000 MB/s R/W throughput from it. However, it has some weird designs to achieve its smaller size. First, it uses friction to hold down 2280 SSDs, although it has rubber holders for other sizes. Second, its height can barely fits a thin SSD. I cannot fit a SSD with a thin piece of heat spreader into it at all.I bought this product in November of 2019, only came back becuase I am building my own Gaming PC and I plan to get a TLC internal SSD and I wanted to check what kind this one was. With that said this particular SDD I have had for 2 years. I have stored absolutely everything on it. I am a Content Creator and Full Time student so I have 7+ months of recorded streams, Games, 2 years worth of all my school work + other miscellaneous large files I use for video editing. This external SSD has held up great and I still have 178 GB left on it. It also doesn't get warm at all, even while gaming, I have it right next to the vent for my laptop which warms it up as well and it still runs flawlessly. In general I'm not playing most things at high settings with an MX150 and an intel core i5 8250u to put things into perspective but I'm confident that whatever I throw at it.. it will do fine. I have also dropped it about 3 - 5 times from desk height onto a wooden floor (bouncing off of things before it hit the ground) - even with that no data loss and it still runs great. 100% Recommend especially for students.. as I carried this in my backpack or bag and didn't have to worry about the disaster that happened to my previous external hard drive when I dropped it ONCE and lost everything in the middle of the quarter :(.Comes with a c-port and USB3 port cable, which is useful. I backed up my computer's 1TB internal drive onto it and it didn't get very hot and was reasonably fast. It seems to be well made. The footprint is as big as a external hard drive, but the design language is quite impressive. Anyway, I suspect that the 2.5 inch Silicon Power SSD inside is either DRAMless or not having enough cache. Although it is still a TLC drive, it reads and writes close to 6 GB/s (SATA3 limit) for a short while and then it drops to below 100 MB/s. It will pick up again and then drop again. Such behaviour is typical for all external SSDs, but the profile of this SSD results in lower than average overall speed. It was affordable when I got it, but if you do not mind paying for a bit more, there are better SATA3-based external SSDs out there.Very reasonably priced considering this SSD is among the fastest available on Amazon. I've connected it to my Launch edition Xbox One and now I'm loading into games and their area's faster than people with the Xbox One X!I love it and don't know how I managed without it before lolGarbage, I have to assume I either got a bad one or the reviews are fake.Package arrived on schedule. The external drive is small in size and feels rugged with a sleek aluminum casing.I’ve integrated with cameras to record events. It is too early to comment on effectiveness and will update comments if there are any issues. The drive connected easily and no delay with driver installations.Expected the product to be a bit smaller. Not sure if the rattle inside is normal... feels a bit flimsy but great price for the amount of SSD storage. Fast shipping! Overall satisfied
